Downhill racer Lindsey Vonn skis out of retirement at Copper Mountain

Downhill ski racer Lindsey Vonn is back. The 40-year-old former Olympian, who officially retired 5 years ago, started a bid to return to form this season on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at Copper Mountain. A volunteer helped her remove her No. 41 bib at the end of her second race of the morning.

For a ski racing legend, 40-year-old Lindsey Vonn's return from retirement to downhill competition at Copper Mountain on Saturday sure was a low-key affair. That was fine with the kids in town for training camp from Vermont's Stratton Mountain School, ski academy, who got a chance to crowd in front of their idol for a photo at the bottom of the race course.
