The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office have lifted an evacuation order prompted by a grass fire that sparked earlier Tuesday. The blaze is now 100% contained.
The Franktown Fire Protection District reported a five-acre fire near Dahlberg and Lake Gulch Roads south of Franktown at 12:56 p.m. The blaze grew to 50 acres and appeared to be moving southeast.
Helicopter crews, graders, and other ground resources were dispatched and are still on-scene. Crews created a solid defense line around the fire. The district said that wind gusts from 17-20 mph proved to be the biggest challenge.
No structure damage has been reported. No injuries were reported.
The evacuation order was issued from Lake Gulch Road to Greenland Road and Dahlberg Road to Highway 83. An evacuation center had been established at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Animals were required to stay in trailers and vehicles.
