Broomfield High School and six other businesses throughout Broomfield, Lafayette, Louisville, and Westminster are the latest locations to have been exposed to the measles.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), Broomfield Public Health and Environment, and Boulder County Public Health confirmed on Friday that the latest case was from a child resident in Broomfield County. Public health officials said the child had not received the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine.
Additionally, the resident also has no known connection to the recent exposures reported in Colorado and has not traveled outside of the state. Officials say this could indicate the case stems from other unknown infections in the area.
CDHPE said students, faculty, and staff at Broomfield High School might be at risk of exposure if they were on campus between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on:
- Thursday, Feb. 19
- Friday, Feb. 20
- Monday, Feb. 23
Other locations that have been exposed:
- King Soopers, 1150 US-287, Broomfield, CO 80020, Thursday, Feb. 19, between 1-5 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 21, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Symptoms may develop through March 12 for the first exposure and through March 14 for the second exposure.

CDHPE said the lack of a clear source of infection suggests that unidentified measles cases may be occurring in or traveling through the area.
Last week, an out-of-state traveler with a confirmed case of measles traveled through Denver International Airport and attended a church service in Littleton. The passenger was fully vaccinated. Transmission was considered low risk but still possible.
So far, there have been two confirmed measles cases in Colorado in 2026. Both cases were reported in February. Last year, there were 36 reported cases, a huge spike from previous years. You can visit the CDPHE measles webpage for the latest information about cases in Colorado.
