Alterra Mountain Company, which operates the Ikon Pass for dozens of ski resorts around the world, is getting a new CEO.
Jared Smith, the current CEO, is stepping down at the end of this ski season, the Denver-based resort owner said in a statement. No reason was given for Smith’s departure.
In Colorado, Alterra operates Arapahoe Basin, Winter Park and Steamboat.
“Jared has been a valued leader at Alterra Mountain Company for many years, and we are grateful for his leadership and partnership,” Eric Resnick, chairman of the Board of Alterra Mountain Company, said in the statement. “Over the course of his tenure, he has made a lasting impact during a period of continued growth and operational advancement, while ensuring the company maintained the culture and commitment to our communities that make Alterra special.”
Smith took over the CEO role in 2022. He joined Alterra from Live Nation Entertainment, Inc., where he was global chairman of Ticketmaster. An executive committee will serve as the office of the CEO during the search for his replacement.
