Mandatory evacuation orders for a fire near Terry Lake, west of 287 and east of Overland Trail Road in Laporte, have been lifted.
The two-acre fire started in an area where there are a lot of trees and dry grasses — causing a large plume of smoke to billow above the treeline and was contained and in the clean-up phase as of 1 p.m. on Thursday.
According to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, mandatory evacuations were in place briefly, and notifications were sent to 2,401 contacts.
High fire danger warnings are in place for most of the Front Range today, with winds expected to reach up to 90 miles per hour, making it challenging for crews to contain the blaze.
This is a developing story.
