Adults incarcerated as children read their stories at Motus Theater’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day event at the Dairy Arts Center in Boulder.

Colorado lawmakers will listen to a compilation of first-hand accounts Wednesday at the state capitol from adults incarcerated as children. The goal, part of Motus Theater's "Youth Behind and Beyond Bars" program, is to shed light on the impact of incarcerating children and to push for restorative justice and community-based programs instead of imprisonment. The presenters include Juaquin Mobley, Durrell Bumphus, Lawrence Hershel Goshon, Michael Rollerson, James “Big Shakur” Williams, and Lorenzo Allen. The words of Raymond Johnson will be read by Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty. The men previously told their stories at a Martin Luther King Jr. tribute last month in Boulder.
