A fire burning southeast of Trinidad along the Colorado-New Mexico border is now estimated at 1,012 acres, which is only a slight increase from the last estimate on Wednesday morning.

Authorities also said they consider the south and southwest edges of the fire contained, as well as the southeast side of the fire next to Lake Dorothey. That leads to an overall estimate of 36% containment.

The terrain on the north and northwest side of the fire is rugged and steep, and the Colorado Incident Management Team said that's affecting access.

Fire departments from across the region, including Hoehne and Raton, New Mexico, are responding. Crews from Colorado Springs, Cimarron Hills, Castle Rock and elsewhere are as well.
